The team No Pressure takes top MSE honor at the 2021 Capstone Design Expo, held Tuesday virtually via Gatherly. 971 students, 186 teams, 10 schools, and four of Georgia Tech’s colleges competed for a range of awards and an opportunity to showcase their semester-long projects. Almost 2400 people attended the virtual expo.

MSE had fourteen teams competing, including two interdisciplinary teams. No Pressure, consisting of Alexander Chen, Dustin Johnson, Matthew Kuner, Aaron Thomas, and Eleanor Turaski won in the MSE category. Their project, Pressureless Cold Sintering of ZnO on Polymer Substrates, sponsored by Murata Manufacturing, worked to develop a novel low-temperature and low-pressure sintering process to produce zinc oxide ceramic films on a polymer substrate which display comparable properties to those manufactured via traditional sintering techniques.

The 2021 Best Overall Project went to the interdisciplinary team StrideLink. Their team, consisting of students from CmPE, and EE, created an affordable, wearable, and accessible gait analysis technology used in injury recovery.
