Dr. Eugenia Kharlampieva, Chemistry Department, University of Alabama-Birmingham,
“Nanoengineered Materials for Drug Delivery and Cell Transplatation”
Eugenia Kharlampieva is an Associate Professor of Polymer Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She received her Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the Stevens Institute of Technology and postdoctoral training in Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research centers at the intersection of polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, and biomedical science to develop new materials for therapeutic applications. She has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, four book chapters, and six patents.
Dr. Kharlampieva received the NSF CAREER Award in Polymers, the UAB College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Innovation Award, and was named as an Emerging Investigator by the Royal Society of Chemistry, Journal of Materials Chemistry B, in 2014. Dr. Kharlampieva is an Executive Committee member at Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL), SHUG (SNS and HFIR User Group). She also serves on an Advisory Committee Board in Neutron Scattering at Oak Ridge National lab (ORNL), UT/ORNL DOE EPSCoR and at the Editorial Board of Journal of Analytical & Bioanalytical Techniques.
